Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy That Promotes Lasting Change

Our individual psychotherapy approach is evidence-based and personalized to meet each client’s unique and often complex treatment needs. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and insight-oriented therapy, we work to address underlying emotional and behavioral patterns, reduce sexual recidivism risk where relevant, and support long-term behavioral and relational change.

We serve both individuals referred through the criminal justice system and those who seek support independently. Many clients come to us burdened by profound shame, isolation, and the stigma often associated with sex addiction or problematic sexual behavior. Others may approach treatment with resistance or distrust, especially when mandated by the courts. In every case, we prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and respectful therapeutic space. By fostering trust, empathy, and positive regard, we help clients engage authentically in the therapeutic process—transforming both voluntary and court-mandated treatment into meaningful opportunities for insight, healing, and sustainable growth.

Group Psychotherapy

Group Psychotherapy That Fosters Healing and Growth

We offer relapse-prevention-based and victim-centered psychoeducational and process-oriented group therapy designed to support meaningful personal exploration and sustainable behavioral change. Our groups emphasize psychological safety, trust, and mutual respect—essential elements for individuals often burdened by the stigma associated with sex addiction or sexual offending. By fostering an inclusive and nonjudgmental space, we enable participants to engage openly and authentically in the group process. This supportive environment not only promotes emotional healing but also offers a transformative and corrective experience that complements individual therapy and helps lay the foundation for long-term and sustainable change

Witness Testimony and Consulting

We offer expert testimonies in various court systems related to complex forensic cases. We also offer consulting services related to forensic cases with various local and federal agencies as well as criminal defense attorneys, and other agencies involved in rehabilitation efforts.

About

Services

We are a community based forensic mental health clinic dedicated to the assessment and treatment of sexual abusers and other individuals presenting with a variety of sexual behavior problems; co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues and complex personality disorders. Our clinic offers a standardized, evidenced-based program, relying on a CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) approach that serves all levels of risk to target dysfunctional thought patterns and foster positive behavioral change in individuals who present with sexual behavior problems, sexual regulation problems as well as individuals who have been in contact with the criminal justice system as a result of a sex offense. It is important to note that we do not provide psychotherapy in the traditional sense of the term, but rather forensically-informed therapeutic services that are relapse-prevention focused and victim-centered all geared towards recidivism reduction.

Our clinic works with individuals who are self-referred and wish to address their problem behaviors through a course of intensive, research-based, and targeted treatment approach aimed at addressing sexual regulation issues and improving overall functioning and quality of life. We also work with the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation, and with various agencies such as the CSOSA in the District of Columbia, the Bureau of Prisons. We currently hold various contracts with the United States Probation Office and the Montgomery County Pre-Release Center who refer to us convicted sex offenders who need sex offender specific treatment. Our goal is to help those clients transition safely and effectively in the community and to prevent further reoffending behaviors. We also regularly consult and provide training with the Montgomery County Pre-Release Center, and the Office of the Public Defender. Dr. Hildembrand is also regularly retained by a number of criminal defense attorneys who are seeking her expertise for various complex forensic cases. Dr. Hildembrand also regularly consults with mental health professionals related to working with individuals with sexual adjustment issues and who may face criminal charges.  Our clinic has also developed and maintained a collaborative relationship Maryland Board of Physicians, namely through the MPRP Professional Rehabilitation (Maryland Program), which is the physician health program for the state of Maryland, which has referred to us physicians who have engaged in professional boundary violations entailing but not limited to developing sexual relationships with patients. In this context, we consult with the MPRP multidisciplinary team to guide the board’s decision related to their clients’ rehabilitation and license reinstatement.
